Car painting: common questions
Will the new paint match the rest of my car?
That is the whole job. We match to the car as it is today, not just to the factory code, and blend into adjacent panels so there is no visible line between old and new.
My clear coat is peeling on the roof and hood. Can that be fixed?
Yes. Failed clear coat has to be taken back and the panel refinished; it cannot be polished out. We can do the affected panels or the whole car, depending on how far it has spread.
How long does painting take?
A single panel is typically a few days including preparation and curing. A full respray takes considerably longer, and we give you a realistic date rather than an optimistic one.
Can you change my car to a different colour?
Yes. A colour change is more involved than a same-colour respray because the jambs, edges and openings have to be dealt with too. We explain exactly what is included before we start.
Do you paint motorcycles?
Yes. Tanks, fairings and panels, matched to the existing finish or in a new colour.
Can you paint just one panel?
Yes, and it is common after collision work. The key to it looking right is blending into the neighbouring panels rather than stopping at the seam.
Is faded paint covered by insurance?
No. Fading and clear-coat failure are wear, not accident damage, so they are paid privately. Damage from a collision is a different matter and goes on the claim.
Do you paint plastic bumpers and body kits?
Yes. Plastic needs different preparation from metal panels, and the colour has to be matched with that in mind so the bumper does not read slightly different from the wings.
